Judith LaPorte

Judith M. LaPorte, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died on October 7, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born March 14, 1936, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of William and Marie (Schanze) Clancy. She was a Portage High School graduate. Judith married Lawrence G. LaPorte on June 21, 1958. For 20 years, she worked at Upjohn Company. Judith was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish, where she blessed many families with her work on luncheons. Her family includes her children: Jeff (Patti) LaPorte, Todd (Peggy) LaPorte, David (Kim) LaPorte, and Lisa (Scott) Butcher; her grandchildren: Jeff, Chelsea, Ryan, Katie, Alex, Aaron, and Dawson; her great-grandchildren McKenah, Jersey, and a new baby girl due in March; her sister Rosalie Buyce; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends Dave and Diane and their family. Judith was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her son Steven, her parents and her brother Bill Clancy. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Monday, October 12, 2020, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 East Centre Avenue, Portage, MI 49002. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 11 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father Ben Huynh presiding. Interment will follow at South Portage Cemetery. Guests are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing at the visitation and service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan or St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
