Joyce Mills

Joyce A. Mills, age 84, of Otsego, MI passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 17, 1932 in Otsego, to Herman and Fannie (Engel) Hummel. At the Plainwell Roller Rink she met the love of her life, Richard Mills as he was showing off for her, and they were married on July 27, 1951 in Otsego. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Joyce loved Christmas and her cats but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As her health began to decline she moved in with and was cared for by her daughter Linda Froelich and her husband Dan. Joyce is survived by her children, Tim (Debbie) Mills, Emily Mills, Linda (Dan) Froelich and John Mills, all of Otsego; 11 grandchildren, Cristin, Bryon, Katie, Tony, Karen, Tamaris, Nick, Rich, Monica, Lance and Alayna; 10 great-grandchildren, Klayre, Devon, Elaina, Carter, Corey, Chance, Cash, Raegan, Gabrielle and Croix; sisters, Marian Ray and Doris (Dick) Geiger; sister in-law, Florence (Jack) Violante; special cousin who is like a sister, Mary Ellen Woodstock, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; siblings, Eloa Vanfleei, Chas Hummel, Helen Houvener, Anna Mae Towne, Ben Hummel and Esther Hummel; and a great-grandson, Derrick. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Burial of ashes will take place at Mt. Home Cemetery, Otsego. Contributions in memory of Joyce may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
