Joyce LaLoggia

Joyce passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2016 after a short illness. She was born on January 6, 1931 to Elmer and Lee Hoepfner in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attended West Milwaukee High School.

She married Anthony LaLoggia on Oct. 26, 1956, and they had five children. Joyce had many interests, including birdwatching, reading, knitting, gardening, and spending time with her family. But her life’s joy was music. Joyce spent 34 years as a choir director, most recently at Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton. She also traveled with the Milwaukee Symphony Choir to perform at Carnegie Hall.

Joyce had a witty sense of humor and fierce determination that helped her through life’s up and downs. She derived joy from life’s everyday miracles. Joyce was exceedingly proud of her children and grandchildren, and she was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to everyone around her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Scott; daughter, Kathleen; and grandson, Scottie. She is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Julia (Rose); sons, Thomas and James (Brigette); son-in-law, Douglas Tank; grandsons James (Ha) Tank, Anthony (Kimberly) Kuney; and Nick; granddaughters Sara (Rene) Ornelas; and Janet Kuney; great-grandsons Esai and Matias Ornelas, and Jake Kuney; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Kuney.

Visitation will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at Grace Lutheran Church, 715 6th Avenue in Grafton, with services to follow at 4 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
