Joyce Elaine Evans-Freer (Nee: Williamson) 89 years old, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2016. Joyce was born in Racine on June 12, 1926 to Roy and Myrtle Williamson. She was a 1944 graduate of Park High School. Joyce was married to the love of her life William J.H. Evans on October 27, 1945. They enjoyed 51 wonderful years of marriage together. This union produced 3 children, Teri (Frank) Serpe of, West Allis WI, Robert (Lynn) Evans of Racine and William J.H. Evans Jr. (Laura) Evans of Oconomowoc, WI. She is also survived by a sister Carol Jensen of Palisades, CO. Joyce was dearly loved by her 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill on February 12, 1996.

She was a homemaker who had a great passion for, not only raising her family, but also for the Racine Community. She and Bill were unbelievable supporters of their children’s activities. She volunteered at the then, St. Mary’s hospital for many years. She was a 2 time Committee Chairperson of ‘Cardiac Capers’ which was a variety show, fundraiser for St. Mary’s Hospital. As a young woman, Joyce sang with the Sweet Adeline’s thus fueling her love of music. Joyce and Bill loved singing and entertaining.

Joyce was an excellent Bridge player. She played regularly and was very well respected in the Bridge communities of Racine and Green Valley Arizona.

On July 5, 2002 she married Laurence Taylor Freer. Joyce and Larry spent 13 wonderful years together. Their time was spent between Racine, WI, Whitehall, MI, and Green Valley, Arizona. Larry is loved and respected by the Evans family along with his sons Timothy of Chicago and Scott of Elmhurst, IL…even if they are Bears fans.

Special thanks goes out to Hospice nurse Emily, for her compassion and professionalism, Home Instead caretaker, Diana, for her compassionate and loving care in Joyce’s times of need and St. Paul’s Pastor Fr. Terry Huebner for his home visits.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 21, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating.
