Joyce Butgereit

Joyce J. Butgereit, age 71, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Joyce was born in Racine, January 27, 1944, daughter of the late Anthony and Loraine (Nee: Hanson) Jacob.

On May 29, 1993 at the Women’s Club of Kenosha she was united in marriage to Jack L. Butgereit. She was employed as a teacher’s aid for many years with the Racine Unified School District. Joyce was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. A talented and creative artist, Joyce enjoyed arts, crafts, knitting, crocheting, and drawing. She also drew illustrations for Western Publishing. More than anything she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of twenty-three years and best friend of over thirty-five years, Jack; her children, Barbara (Carlos) Giron of Racine, Mark (Linda) Burdo of AR, Christine Burdo of Racine, Amanda Kreier (fiance, Jeff Marsh) of Kenosha, Gail (John) Chromcik of Racine, Mike Burdo, Mark Burdo, both of Racine; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Joyce) Jacob of Kenosha; sister-in-law, Jean Jacob of Elkhorn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Jacob.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016, 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 3:00 P.M. until time of service at 5:00 P.M. Private interment will be held.
