Josephine H. Mata, age 76, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine, July 24, 1940, daughter of the late Raymond and Helena (Nee: Mertens) Murphy.

Josephine was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1958”. On August 2, 1958 she was united in marriage to Ciprian John Mata. She was employed by Robert Bosch Corp. as an accountant, and in the traffic department for many years where she belonged to the Traffic Club and Fifteen Plus Club. Josephine was also a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Racine Moose Lodge, and the Knitting Club. Most of all she treasured the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband Ciprian John; son, Peter John Mata; beloved grandchildren, Rachel L. and Jonathan W. Mata; two great-grandchildren, Trenton and LiAnna; brother, Michael A. (Kathy) Murphy; sisters, Paula J. Haag, Cecelia M. Jacoby (Connie Zakowski); brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Fortier, Karen Murphy, Margaret Malacara; special friends, Ruth Miller and Tony Behling; nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Todd; brother, George; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter Haag, Ben Gonzales, Alice Castro, Victoria Saldana, Beatrice Fortier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 25, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave. with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested for a fund to be established at a later date.

A very special thank you to her caregivers at Ascension All Saints Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
