Joseph Edward Terhune passed away on December 24, 2015. He was born in Flint, Michigan on October 26, 1941 to Helen (Harris) and Aldowayne Terhune who proceeded him in death. He is survived by his children Brian Terhune (Laurie Hastings), Jody Terhune (Robert Stratton), Blake Terhune (Micaela Church), Mitchell Terhune (Julie Stahl), his sister Sarah Ann (Terhune) Rutz, and stepchildren Matt and Marya Thomas. He has 8 grandchildren. He is a graduate of Traverse City Central High School and he also attended Northwestern Michigan College. He had a colorful career: He worked for Jack Maue at Union Market; he was a draftsman at Cone Drive Gears, Ex-cell-o, and Verstand Engineering; he was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 340, then began his own businesses — Detail Steel and Mitchell/Blake Company. He was involved with the construction of multiple well known buildings around the Traverse City area, including Dennos Museum, both high schools, and several projects at Munson Medical Center. He was a lifetime resident of Traverse City. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating. Joe was a very outgoing person and loved meeting new people. A an informal gathering is scheduled from 3-6pm at Mt. Holiday on Wednesday, December 30th, with a brief ceremony at 3:30pm.
