Joseph Srackangast

Joseph J. Srackangast, age 62, of Augusta, MI died unexpectedly Thursday morning March 2, 2017 at his residence. Joseph was born January 15, 1955 in Landstuhl, Germany a son of Duane and Clara (Smith) Srackangast. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was a self employed contractor for over 30 years. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed auto racing, summer weekends at the speedway, raising livestock and spending time with his 3 grandsons. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Clara in 2011. On July 14, 1979, he was united in marriage to Alice M. (Buthala) Srackangast who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Aaron (Meagan) Srackangast of Galesburg, Colene (Travis) Wade of Augusta, and Andrew Srackangast of Portage; 3 grandchildren; his father, Duane (Carol) Srackangast of Galesburg; sister Sue Srackangast; an uncle; and a niece. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. An open house is planned to celebrate his life at his residence, March 25, 2-5 pm.
