Joseph Kincaid, MD

Dr. Joseph Kincaid died peacefully at his home on October 20, 2017. Joe was born in Vicksburg, MI on September 18, 1932, the son of Earle and Helena (Gilding) Kincaid. He graduated from St. Augustine High School, Western Michigan University, and University of Michigan Medical School. He practiced Internal Medicine with a specialty in Endocrinology in Kalamazoo for 44 years. Preservation of human life was always a passion for Joe both professionally and personally. This strong belief caused him to establish Right to Life of Michigan and Kalamazoo Right to Life where he served in leadership positions in both for many years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus of Portage, was inducted in to the Hackett Hall of Fame, and was a faithful member of St. Monica Catholic Church. In his spare time, he loved to travel, birdwatch, play bridge, and write in his daily diary. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Paula. Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane (Henneberry), his children: Brian Kincaid, Mike Kincaid both of Kalamazoo, Therese (Kevin) Stone of Muskegon, Mary (Greg) Gadbois of Grand Rapids and Kathryn Kincaid of Kalamazoo, and seven grandchildren: Daniel, Ryan, Christian, Kelly Stone, and Natalie, William, Andrew Gadbois. Joe's legacy remains with his children and grandchildren, and the Kincaid Papers which document the early years of the Right to Life movement which are housed in Bentley Library at the University of Michigan. Friends and family will be received Tuesday Oct.24, 2017 from 5 until 8pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, 4100 S. Westnedge, 343-6156 where a rosary will be recited at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday Oct. 25 at 11am with Father Lawrence Farrell celebrant. Luncheon will immediately follow in the church social building. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kalamazoo Right to Life or St. Monica Catholic Church.
