Korzilius, Josef Kalamazoo, MI Went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 17, 2016. Age 81. He was born in Kalamazoo on August 12, 1934, the son of the late Josef and Georgiana (Meyaard) Korzilius. He served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Smith and Debree in Portage for 18 years and then owned and operated Industrial Firebrick in Grand Rapids. He was a charter member of Southern Heights Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, then became a member of Brookside Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids and currently is a member of Third Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. Josef has served as Deacon of Southern Heights CRC, Kellogsville Christian School Board, as Calvinist Cadet Leader at Southern Heights CRC and Brookside CRC. He served as President of the Bricklayers Union of the State of Michigan for many years. Among his hobbies, Josef especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife, Esther (DeBree) Korzilius; children, Connie Graff of Kalamazoo, Josef M. (Joan) Korzilius of Jenison and Brian Korzilius of Oregon; grandchildren, Rebecca (Dean) Kerl, Tim (Christy) Graff, Jessica (Sherilynn) Lezman, Jacklyn Korzilius, Josef A. Korzilius and Jazmyn Korzilius; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Josef, Selah, Quentin, Zane, Korin and Braden; brothers, Bruce Korzilius, Lance (Betty) Korzilius; several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21st at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd at Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008. Rev. Paul De Vries and Rev. A.J. Gretz will officiate. Memorials may be given to Christian Schools of the donor's choice or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
