John W. French Jr., age 72, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his residence. John was born in Racine, October 6, 1944, son of the late Veronika A. (Nee: Seidensticker) and John W. French Sr.

During the Vietnam War John proudly served in the United States Navy Seabees. He was employed as a Journeyman carpenter in various Racine companies. John was actively involved as a member of AA for over thirty-five years and continued in this field as a ADOA Counselor at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center for thirty plus years. In his spare time he enjoyed long country rides on his motorcycle. Always in search of new gadgets, John enjoyed window shopping and was a self proclaimed “Mallingerer.” Above all he treasured time spent with his grandchildren and his faithful canine companion “Roscoe.”

He will be sadly missed by his children, Jason French, Corinna (Chad) Bongiovanni, Joseph French; his grandchildren, Cameron and Dylan Bongiovanni, Mason and Myles Bongiovanni, Hayden and Jude French; sisters and brothers, Kathleen (Bob) Peterson, Mary Karen French, Patrick (Karen) French, Michael (Lorraine) French, Charlie (Annie) French; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia.

Funeral services followed by Full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016, 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at 6:00 P.M. Private interment with be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.
