Thomasma, John L. Sr. Portage Went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday afternoon, November 21, 2021 at his home. John was born December 8, 1938 in Muskegon, MI the son of Harry and Marjorie (Olson) Thomasma, who preceded him in death, along with his brothers, Thomas, Harold and Ronald. On November 3, 1967, John was united in marriage to Sharon (Woodhams) who preceded him in death on December 2, 2010. He is survived by his children, John Thomasma, Jr., Cheryl (Jeff) Moeslein, Jeff (Mechelle) Thomasma, Sarah Thomasma; brothers, Douglas (Marion) Thomasma, Harry (Jane) Thomasma; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. On May 19, 2012 he was united in marriage to Kay (Keegan), who also survives. His family – and his generous, loving heart – grew to include Kay's children: Kelly Batiz, Shelly (Gary) Losey, Kimberly Keegan, Shannon (Joe) Wolner, Don Keegan, who survive, along with 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and many extended family members. John began attending Milwood Christian Reformed Church, now Milwood Community Church, in 1950, at the age of 12. He remained a member until his death, serving as Elder and Deacon. When he spent winters in Florida, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid, where he sang in the choir. He was also very involved with various committees and activities in both churches. He began working at Plate Craft (later known as LSI/Kala), in 1957 and retired from the company, after 47 years, in 2004. Friends may meet the family from 12:00-2:00pm on Sunday, November 28 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where funeral services will follow at 2:00pm.
