Mr. John S. Lehan, age 77, passed away Monday evening, July 28, 2008. He was born in Muskegon on December 27, 1930 to John and Mary (Helpiansky) Lehan and had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Lehan was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. At the age of 12, barely tall enough to see over the counter, John started working at The Camera Shop. He became very knowledgeable and devoted to his work. After 64 years of dedication, hard work, and a job he truly loved, he retired in January of 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, being outdoors, and dabbling in woodworking. On June 12, 1965, John married the former Mary Rodgers in Rome, NY and she survives him along with his son, Craig (Genia) Lehan; his grandson, Kenneth Lehan; his brother, Joseph Lehan and his sister, Gloria Corpe. He was preceded in death by 2 infant children, Steven and Timmy Lehan; 2 granddaughters, Anna and Olivia Lehan; his parents; his sister, Terry Lehan and 2 brothers, Andrew and Frank Lehan. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11AM Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown and Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 and from 10-11AM Friday at Church. INTERMENT will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mr. Lehan's name may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Harbor Hospice.
