John S. Hinze “Jack”, age 84, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at home. He was born in Racine, December 14, 1933, son of the late LeRoy and Bertha (Nee: Nygard) Hinze and had been a Racine resident since 1973.

He graduated from UW-Madison in 1956 with a B.S. in Economics. John proudly served in the United States Army active duty and reserve duty from 1957-1964, discharged with rank of Captain. On December 29, 1962 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Anhalt. He was employed for over forty years at various insurance companies, last working at Insurance Planning Consultants, retiring in 1996. John taught property and casualty insurance courses at UW Extension Division in Milwaukee for ten years. He served as Past President and Director of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU). John was a lifelong active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where he served as a two term member of the parish council and five year board member of CAR (Catholic Association of Racine). He was a member of ALL-Adventures in Lifelong Learning at UW-Parkside where he took over seventy-five classes since retirement. John enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Mary Lou; his children, John (Kara) Hinze, Gretchen (Bill) Reis, Susan (Steve) Houliston, Peter Hinze; grandchildren ,Will and Maddie Hinze, Emily and Dane White, Mara (Aron) Riddle, Tim, Michaia, Jason, and Daniel Reis, Abby, Alex and Nate Houliston; great-grandchildren, Elsie and Beatrice Riddle, Jaxton and Skilya Reis; brother, Thomas (Leah) Hinze; sister-in-law, Anna Stubbs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, LeRoy, Wesley, Bob, and Ward; and sister, Betty Dierksmeier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 15, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or to the Health Care Network Inc. have been suggested.
