John Pieratt

Pieratt, Mr. John R. Portage, MI Passed away peacefully Thursday morning August 4, 2016 at his residence. John was born August 27, 1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Asa and Ella Mae (Pratt) Pieratt. He was raised in Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1960. John was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He was also a longtime member of Faith Reformed Church and currently attending Greenwood Reformed Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a youth group leader, and loved to tell stories, horse racing, and trips to the casino. John was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, David Pieratt. On June 30, 1962, he was united in marriage to Rosalie K. (Stockwell) Pieratt who survives. Also surviving, 2 daughters, Kimberlie (Kevin) Brim of Royal Oak, MI and Jodi (Donald) Moore of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren, Lauren (Larry) Misuraca, Amanda (Bryan) Clark, Kelsey Brim, Jessica and Jennifer Hurdelbrink, and Hunter "Sill" John Moore; and a brother, Asa Pieratt Jr. of Newark, DE. A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock Monday, August 8th at Greenwood Reformed Church, 1815 Winton Ave. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
