Aged 88, resided in Kalamazoo, MI and passed away suddenly on Friday at Bronson Hospital. John was born and raised in Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. He married Wanda McNally in August of 1955. John served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Local 319 Glaziers and Painters Union. He loved fishing, hunting, square dancing and traveling in his RV. He is preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Martha Overloop and his brother, Marvin Overloop. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of 63 years, his three children; Denise and David Westover, Michael Overloop, and Gary and Shirley Overloop; 4 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; and his lifelong friend Ken Polderdyke. Private services will be held Thursday at Fort Custer Cemetery on July 27th. The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 28th at Oshtemo United Methodist Church at 10:00 am, followed by services at 11:00 am and a luncheon after. Donations can be made in his name to Oshtemo United Methodist Church. He leaves us with his favorite poem: "Beat the drums slowly, play the fife lowly, another old soldier found his way home."
