John Johnson

Mr. John E. Johnson, age 76, of Portage, MI died Friday morning April 7, 2017. John was born March 6, 1941 in Fleming, Kentucky a son of Farris and Addie (Johnston) Johnson. He served with the U.S. Army in the E.O.D. 24 years before honorably retiring. John also worked at Starworld for several years and has been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life. He was united in marriage on May 23rd 1961 to Barbara Ann who survives. John was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, James; a sister, Bea; and two brothers, Harold and Russell. He is survived by 3 children, Victoria Johnson of Galesburg, Rachiel (Scott) Hill of Comstock, and John Johnson Jr. of Portage; 2 grandchildren Daniel and Ashley; 2 sisters, Helen of McArthur, OH and Virgie of Snowflake, AZ; a brother-in-law, Gene of Galesburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held 2:30 Tuesday, April 18th in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no visitation.
