John "Jack" Dorgan

John R. "Jack" Dorgan, Jr., age 73, passed away July 31, 2016 at his residence in Portage, MI. Jack was born September 11, 1942 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of John R. and Mary A. (Dunn) Dorgan, Sr. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 26 years with Burroughs Manufacturing. Jack was a longtime member of the New Apostolic Church. He enjoyed volunteering at Lending Hands, woodworking, working in his yard, watching sports and reading, but the most important part of his life was spending time with his loved ones. On May 6, 1989 he was united in marriage to Virginia A. "Ginny" Walls, who survives. Also surviving are children Kelley (Joe) Ruzak, Michael (Jennifer) Dalman, Anita Tyler and fiance Bryan Breisch, Tony (Johniece) Tyler; several grandchildren including Nathan Cluster, Jeremy (Rebecca) Cluster, Aaron Cluster, Brittany (Will) Brockie and Brandon Tyler; great-grandchildren Logan, Hayden and Gabriel; his sister Elizabeth (Ron) Kurzmann. A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 20th at the New Apostolic Church (3600 W. Milham). The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to service time and immediately following the service during a time of food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack's memory may be directed to the New Apostolic Church VBS Fund or to Lending Hands. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
