John Hutchens

John Rufus Hutchens "HUTCH", age 73. Lived in Porter Ranch, California. John passed away peacefully, in the presence of his wife, three sons, eldest sister, and niece, of natural causes, on July 8th, 2016. John grew up on a farm in Otsego Michigan. At the age of 17, he joined the Marine Corps. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country for 21 years, and retired from the Marines in 1981. He then went to work for ITT Gilfillan as a Field Engineer, working in Kuwait, California, Japan, and Korea, retiring in 2006. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Rufus and Katheryn Hutchens, and two of his brothers, Dick and Steve Hutchens. He is survived by two sisters, Barbara and Ann, one brother, Dave; his first wife, Virginia Kinney, second wife, Young-Mi Kim; three sons, Matthew, Travis, and Derk Hutchens. He had eight grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews. John will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Friday, 22 July 2016, at 11 a.m. John was heavily involved with the VFW and his church, reaching out and helping others. He lived a blessed life, and uplifted all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
