John Allen "Jack" Huffman, age 81, of Jackson formerly of Kalamazoo, MI having lived a long, rich life, died on June 27th, 2016 at Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson Michigan to be embraced by the eternal love of God. Born November 21st 1934, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Carl Huffman, Jack was raised in East Lansing Michigan along with his four sisters. He graduated from East Lansing High School in 1952 where he loved playing football. Jack then attended Michigan State University, graduating with his degree in Business in 1956. Directly after college, he joined the United States Air Force where he became a Captain and served for three years. Following his time in the Air Force, Jack began his career at IBM and continued working with First of America Bank for over 20 years. Jack was a lover of nature, fishing, and golfing; of traveling and exploring; of foodespecially anything sweet; of Sci-fi and Sunday drives. He was passionate about his research into genealogy, as well as holistic health. A life-long learner, he attended classes at WMU after the age of 70. Jack was a loving, humorous, and very spiritual man. A member of the Unity Church in Jackson, Michigan, his daily life consisted of prayer and meditation. Jack believed in a higher power that guided his life, which provided the foundation for his 27 years of sobriety. Jack is survived by his three daughters: Jaqueline Barrett, Constance Huffman, Suzanne Huffman-Chamberlin (Robert Chamberlin); two grandchildren: Ethan Barrett, and Bailey Barrett; his loving companion of the last six years: Marjorie Fry; four sisters: Patricia Bakke, Margaret Huffman, Janet Nelson (Ron Nelson), and Joanne Huffman; nephew: Mark Bakke; niece: Samantha Nelson-Crowe (John Crowe); former spouse: Dianne Huffman; and former son in-law: Tim Barrett. A visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 PM on Friday, July 1, Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo. Interment with military honors will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 15, at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 16th at The Unity Church, 3385 Miles Rd, Jackson, Michigan, with a luncheon and fellowship immediately following at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to The Portage Senior Center, The Portage Outreach Center or The Unity Church of Jackson Michigan.
