John Crowell

John Leon Crowell passed away at his daughter's home in Buckeye, Arizona on Thursday June 20, 2019 at the age of 96. John served with Honor as a B26 pilot in WWII. As a bomber pilot, he flew 41 combat missions into France, Germany and Ardennes. After the war, John married the love of his life Mildred(Millie) K. Arnett. They married on November 13, 1947 in Osborn, Ohio. John and Millie were happily married for 64 years. John enjoyed sports and pursued many outdoor activities. He was an active member in his community; most notably with The Portage Senior Center. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. John is preceded in death by his wife Mildred(Millie) and his son Ronald Dean. John is survived by his four children, John Jr. (Nancy) Crowell of Irons, Michigan, Karen (Chuck) Bate of Buckeye, Arizona, Jeffrey (Jayne) Crowell of Fort Myers, Florida and James (Susan) Crowell of Kalamazoo, Michigan. John has 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The family is planning a private memorial. John's interment will be at Portage South Cemetery.
