Mr. John C. Cleveland, aged 68, of Grand Rapids passed away on October 24, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. (Betty) Cleveland; and father-in-law, John Fick. John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandy; children, Amanda (David) Eppinga, Nichole (Russell) King, and Jay (Sarah) Cleveland; grandchildren, Haley, R.J., Hayden, Reece, and Mason. Also surviving are his sister, Jo (Tom) Lambert; mother-in-law, M. Dolores Fick; sister-in-law, Patricia Siminske; brothers-in-law, Mike (Anita) Fick and Steve Fick; and many nieces and nephews. John was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, during the Vietnam War. He will be remembered for his love of golf, travel, and deer camp. His enthusiasm and happy go-lucky attitude will be missed. John was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. He lost his battle, but his Higher Power provided him rescue. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until 1 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, 1833 Plainfield Ave NE. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to Friends of MI Veterans Homes.
