Joanne Vlietstra

Vlietstra, Joanne Kalamazoo Age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 1, 2021. On November 5, 1971, she married Clarence Vlietstra who survives her. She was a member of Kalamazoo Protestant Reformed Church. Besides her husband, Joanne is survived by her children, John (Cheryl) Vlietstra, Douglas (Sarah) Vlietstra, Jennie Vlietstra, all of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Levi (Rachel), Jessie (Timothy), Adam (Ruth), Andrew, Nella, Jacob, Luke, Caleb, Emma and Caitlyn Vlietstra; great-grandson, Hendrik; siblings, Donald (Sue) Balkema, Mary (Marvin) Vlietstra, Esther (John) Uramkin; sister-in-law, Nellie Balkema; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Joel R. Vlietstra; a brother, David Balkema. A service in witness to Joanne's life and faith will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd., Kalamazoo. Joanne will be committed to the earth in a private graveside service at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Reformed Heritage Christian School, in c/o the funeral home.
