Anhalt, Joanne 1/28/1941 - 1/28/2023 Richland Joanne Marie (Pederson) Anhalt passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023 surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer for 26 years. Joanne was born on January 28, 1941 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Russell and Mary (Brennand) Pederson. Joanne was a1959 Gillett High School graduate. She attended Wisconsin State College, Oshkosh, graduating with an elementary education degree in 1963. She continued her education at Western Michigan University. She married Philip T. Anhalt on June 19, 1965. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage before Phil's passing on December 22, 2011. She taught for several years in Green Bay and Oshkosh, Wisconsin before moving to Michigan, where she taught at Gull Lake for over 20 years. Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as genealogy, reading, painting and time at their cottage on Stewart Lake. After retiring, Joanne enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop at Borgess Hospital and at St. Ann Catholic Church. She was loved by many close friends whom she enjoyed spending time with. Surviving Joanne are her children, Todd (Lori) Anhalt and Jody (Troy) Jennings; four grandchildren, Rachael Anhalt, Ashlee Pietenpol, Morgan (Lucio) Jennings, Brolan (Jomely) Jennings; brothers, Robert (Carol) Pederson, Don (Sandy) Pederson, Tom Pederson and sister, Carol (Mike) Riemer; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip Anhalt; son-in-law, Brian Pietenpol; grandson, Mitchell Pietenpol and granddaughter, Abigail Pietenpol. Joanne's family will receive friends for visitation at St. Ann Catholic Church on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
