JoAnn Mannon

JoAnn Mannon, age 92, of Portage, MI passed away Tuesday morning, October 4, 2016. JoAnn was born March 20, 1937 in McKenzie, TN the daughter of the late Carlos and F. Loree (Pickler) Laster. Prior to her retirement she was employed for many years at Portage Central High School. JoAnn was a member of the 12th Street Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, bingo, and trips to the casino. She loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's various sporting events. On August 18, 1952 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, James Mannon, Jr, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Laster. JoAnn is survived by her children, Patricia (Robert) Price, Kenneth Mannon, Bobby (Michelle) Mannon, Loree (Joe) Babcock; 8 grandchildren, Chad (Erin) Price, Amanda (Jason) Headley, Kate (Matt) Sopjes, Nicholas Mannon, Brooke (Dustin) Cousins, Zachary (Jacquelyn) Babcock, Eric Babcock, and Evan Babcock; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, October 7 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Pastor Thad Stout officiating. Interment will follow in Portage South Cemetery. Friends may meet the family from 6-8pm Thursday, October 6 and Friday from 10:00-11:00am at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
