Joan Martin

Joan passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at Vicinia Gardens in Otsego. She was born August 26, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Alphonsus and Ruth (Bengtsson) Utt. Joan was a kind hearted woman who always thought of others before herself. She was an exceptional cook, baking being her specialty. Her Chocolate chip cookies were a particular favorite with family and friends. Joan was the happiest when she was surrounded by family at football games, traveling in the RV or parties. She married Donald Martin who passed away in 2011. Surviving are her sons, Garry Martin of Portage, Greg (Jan) Martin of Otsego, Randy Martin of Portage and Rob (Michelle) Martin of Kentwood; 6 grandchildren, Sarah (Marc), Jenny (Devin), Andrew (Brandi), Zachary, Alex and Nathan; 3 great-grandchildren, Callen, Damen and Exander; sister, Jean Barringer and several special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will be held at a later time. Private burial of ashes will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery in Richland. Contributions in memory of Joan may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
