Joan Florence Rose, age 93, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at her residence. She was born in Racine, December 18, 1921 daughter of George and Florence (nee: Bushell) Schliesmann.

On June 14, 1941, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married Lester Rose and they happily celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1991 and their 60th in 2001. Joan was a life member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, member and past president of their Christians Mothers and also of the St. Therese Unit of the Good Samaritan Guild. Joan was a poll worker for over 20 years. She delivered Meals on Wheels for over 38 ½ years with the help of her husband. She was a faithful blood donor since the 40’s and had given over 215 pints. She was a life member of the Apostolate of Suffering, a charter member of St. Monica’s Home Auxiliary, member of St. Luke’s Auxiliary, member of Get off Your Rocker Program at St. Mary’s, and Forward Together at Humboldt Park. She also played cards at the Mt. Pleasant group and at the Bryant Center. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, Kay Powers, and 3 brothers, Frank, Ray, and Dick. Surviving are her son, Jerry and his wife Valerie; 2 grandsons, Jason in CA and Ryan and his wife Leah in Racine; 2 great granddaughters, Jaylin and Eden Rose; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 24, 2015, 10:30 A.M. at St. Monica’s Chapel, 3920 N. Green Bay Rd with Reverend Richard Molter officiating. Private entombment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet Friday at St. Monica’s Chapel 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Monica’s Senior Citizens Home have been suggested.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the Staffs of Hospice Alliance and St. Monica’s Senior Citizens Home for their loving and compassionate support.
