Joan Dorris

Joan L. Dorris, 91, of Grand Rapids, MI., formerly of Kline's Resort, Three Rivers, MI, passed away at her home on Friday, January 6, 2017. She was born April 22, 1925 to LaVern and Ruth Odren (Snyder) in Coldwater, MI. Joan graduated from Coldwater High School in 1943 and attended Western Michigan University. She and James D. Dorris celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary March 1, 2016. She is survived by her husband James, their two daughters and families and one brother. While living in Battle Creek MI. she worked at Sherman's Dress Shoppe, Toeller's Department Store and Sears. Joan was a volunteer docent for 20 years at Binder Park Zoo and member of East Newton Aid Society. She and James enjoyed several years as members of The American Driving Society and the Carriage Association of America, traveling to several states with their horses, carriage and cart. While living at Kline's Resort she enjoyed the many friends they made there and playing cards and games.
