Jill, age 53, died Sunday morning, November 11, 2018 at her residence after a courageous battle against cancer and with her loving family at her side. Jill, the daughter of Jeffrey P. and Jane C. (Lundy) Puvogel, was born in Royal Oak, MI on August 13, 1965 and was a 1983 graduate of Vicksburg High School. She furthered her education at Michigan State University, graduating in 1987 from MSU's James Madison College with her Bachelor of Political Science Degree. Jill was the Membership Director for the Sherman Lake YMCA since 2008, a role she truly loved. Jill loved her community and everyone in it. This was shown through her generosity, compassion, and kindness to everyone she came in contact with. Jill's role at the YMCA allowed her to touch so many lives while she genuinely welcomed everyone. Jill embodied the YMCA's mission for supporting the surrounding community and she particularly enjoyed coordinating the Y's annual event "The Shermanator." Jill was a staunch supporter of public education and the Gull Lake Schools: serving on the Gull Lake School Board from 2003 until 2014 where she was a Past President, as a member of the Gull Lake Community Schools Foundation Board from 2014 until recently, and working tirelessly to ensure the most recent school bond passed. She was a proud supporter of Gull Lake athletics who never missed an opportunity to watch her kids play or to drive half the team to practices. Jill had also been a member of the Gull Lake Area Rotary Club and was a proud card-carrying member of the Democratic Party. Jill sought out every opportunity to open her house to celebrate holidays, birthdays, weddings, graduations or "just because" and truly relished being able to provide a spot for countless people to gather, swim, live, laugh and love. Jill's door was always open and at the drop of a hat, she would exuberantly jump into action to host her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jill's parents and grandparents instilled in Jill a deep personal love for Leelanau County a love which she and Dave cultivated for Haley, Kelsey & Jeffrey and the many family and friends who often came along for the ride. Jill particularly enjoyed early morning bike rides around the county "Up North", spending the day sunning and playing at the beach, and watching the sun set over the glowing embers of a beach fire. Jill was united in marriage to David E. Adamski in Kalamazoo, MI on June 26, 1991. Surviving is her husband of 27 years, Dave; two daughters, Haley J. Adamski (Mitchell Hickman) of Hickory Corners and Kelsey J. Adamski (Emily Lindsey) of Kalamazoo; their son, Jeffrey D. Adamski of Royal Oak; her parents, Jeff and Jane Puvogel of Vicksburg, her sister, Jennifer J. (Gregg Baustian) Puvogel of Maple City, MI and her faithful (favorite?) companion, Winnie. Jill's family will greet friends on Friday, November 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center-Kellogg Hall, 6225 North 39th Street, Augusta, MI 49012. The Memorial Service to celebrate Jill's life will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center-Kellogg Hall with Father Rick Stravers of Kalamazoo, officiating. Family and friends will continue Jill's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the Service in the Kellogg Hall. Jill was a Spartan to her core and avidly followed Michigan State football and basketball. All are encouraged to proudly wear their Green & White to the YMCA on Friday and Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jill's honor may be directed to the Gull Lake Community Schools Foundation, 10100 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 or to the Sherman Lake YMCA (see address above). The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel is assisting Jill's family. Personal messages and/or favorite memories of Jill may be place at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
