Jesse Price Sr.

Price Sr., Jesse H. Portage Passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017. Age 90. Jesse was born in Kalamazoo on January 4, 1927, the son of the late William and Lucille (Betz) Price. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. During his time in the service he was a Pro-Am boxer. He was lead Machine Operator at KVP Sutherland and retired after 33 years of service. He attended Stockbridge United Methodist Church. He was an excellent mechanic and also enjoyed motorcycles and was an avid sportsman. He was married to Marcia J. (Frowein) Price on November 8, 1947 and she preceded him in death on September 14, 1995. He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Charles I) Blades and Robyn (Robert) Schwartz; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; his long time companion, Helen Burggraaf; two nephews, Bill and Henry Price; his sister, Bonnie (Charles) Crummell; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jess H. Price Jr.; and a brother and two sisters. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007, with Pastor Sara Carlson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, North following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Grand Valley State University Kirkhof College of Nursing Endowment Fund.
