Jerilyn Jo Adduci, age 72, died January 30, 2019, at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo. She was born on April 10, 1946 to Joseph and Verl Adduci of Decatur. Upon graduation from Decatur High School she attended Central Michigan University where she received her teaching degree and pursued a job with Constantine Middle School where she taught 7th Grade Language Arts for 37 years. Upon her retirement she continued to volunteer in Kalamazoo, tutoring elementary students. Jerilyn is survived by her sister, Nancy (David) Vliek of Decatur; beloved nephews, Brian (Alaina) Vliek of South Bend and Adam (Heather) Vliek of Paw Paw. Also surviving are her five special grand-nephews and nieces, Nolan, Oliver, Emma, Katelyn and Audrey; several cousins and one aunt, Phyllis Stephenson in California. One of her greatest attributes was her ability to have a large circle of friends for life, including former "Decaturites", teaching pals, bowling pals and neighbors. Jerilyn's nephews and nieces were the light of her life and she treated them as her own. She enjoyed reading, needlework, traveling and casinos. She was always ready for a gathering and a great time with friends and family. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, from 11 am 2 pm at the Decatur VFW Post 6248, 560 N. Phelps St., Decatur, MI. Memorials may be made in her honor to Hospice Care of Southwest Mihcigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007; Michiana Down Syndrome Foundation, PO Box 1454, Granger, IN 46530 or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newell Chapel, Decatur.
