In 2000, he worked at Plainwell Paper until they closed the plant late that year. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, boating, snowmobiling, and most of all going to or watching Detroit Tiger games. As a United Methodist, he served God by loving his wife and family, used his leadership skills by serving on multiple committees, and together with his wife took youth groups on mission trips.
