Age 92, died September 22, 2015, at Rose Arbor, Kalamazoo. She was born August 11, 1923, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of John and Beulah (Keister) Brown. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Brian Elkins and by five siblings. Surviving are her daughter, Victoria Elkins, and several nieces and nephews. A private celebration will be held at a later date. Jean was the ultimate Viking mother, sister, aunt and friend. A fiercely independent woman, she lived with conviction and on her own terms until the end. She was generous with her love, empathy, and compassion. She leaves a huge void for all who loved her.
