Jaya Harijiwan Kalani (Sarvaiya), age 84, of Kalamazoo, MI peacefully passed away in her sleep at Rose Arbor Hospice Center, Kalamazoo, MI on Monday, July 4th, 2016. She was 84. Jaya was born in Mahasamund, (MP) India on 10/02/1931. She migrated to the United States in 1975. She has been a beloved and respected member of the Indian Community of Kalamazoo. Throughout her life she has been a godmother to lots of children and an inspiration to the people around her. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Harjiwan Kalani. She is survived by Sheela (Chetan) Vyas, Nita (Rajesh) Dagli, Sanjay (Preeti) Kalani, Bharti (Saleem) Qureshi, Varsha (Sanjay) Kamodia, Bina (Ishwar Patel) and nine grandkids. Visitation will be at her home, 1739 Embury Rd, Kalamazoo MI, Tuesday July 5th, 6 Pm to 8 Pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choosing. Cremation will be private, limited to family only. Whitley Memorial Funeral Home
