Janice DeBruyn

Janice E. DeBruyn, age 80, of Kalamazoo, MI went home to be with her Lord on January 30, 2017. She was born November 15, 1936 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Claude and Nellie (Luteyn) DeVries. On May 24, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert DeBruyn. Throughout the years they enjoyed traveling and bicycling together. Janice was a longtime active member of Bethany Reformed Church, where she participated in the Women's Bible Study. She loved to sing and was a member of the church and local community choirs. Janice was also a volunteer at Borgess Hospital. The four most favorite things in her life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and working at Croyden Ave. School. On October 12, 2007 she was preceded in death by her husband Robert. Surviving are her three children Jim (Sally) DeBruyn, Brenda (Richard) Barrena, Janel (Curtis) Cunningham; grandchildren Sarah (Ridge) Williams, Josh (Marissa) DeBruyn, Zach DeBruyn, Tiegan Cunningham, Veronica Cunningham; great-grandchildren James and Wesley Williams, Connor DeBruyn; her sister Pat Ouding; and her grand dogs Ringo and Buddy. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Friday, February 3rd at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, February 4th at Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick St. with Pastor Steven Harthorn officiating. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon provided. A private family interment will be held in West Cooper Cemetery. Memorials in Janice's memory may be directed to Croyden Ave. School; or Bethany Reformed Church; or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
