Janet Rutgers

Passed away February 15, 2018 in Kalamazoo, at the age of 88. Janet was born July 12, 1929, in Ellsworth, MI, the daughter of the late Gerrit and Mary (Seigers) Hennip. Janet was employed as a ward clerk at Borgess Medical Center for 17 years. She was a member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church. Janet enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking and gardening. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. On January 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald A. Rutgers, who preceded her in death on June 7, 2017. Brothers Pete and Jim Hennip also preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Ronald Rutgers, Raymond Rutgers, Debbie (Scott) Whipple and Randy Rutgers; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister Christine Behrens; in-laws June and Connie Hennip and Elizabeth Rutgers. She will also be missed by her beloved dog, Nikki. A private family graveside service was held in Genesee Prairie Cemetery.
