Janet McDonald

Janet E. McDonald, of Mesick, died on Monday, October 12, 2015, at Munson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 60.

Janet was born on August 10, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the eighth of nine children to Russell and Valeria (Star) McDonald.

Janet graduated high school from Beal City in 1973. She was a salad chef at the Kings Table for 17 years until she began her disabling battle with HHT.

She married John Stradling on October 4, 1974. She enjoyed soaking up the sun outside, spending time and calling family, watching her movies and loved the Detroit Tigers.

She is survived by her husband, John Stradling of Mesick; her children, Rodney (Amanda) of Silver Springs, Florida, Elizabeth (Jamie) Riffle of Mesick; her precious grandchildren: Zachary, Kaitlynn, Isiac, Kylee, Abbigayle, and Derick; her siblings: Don (Maxine) McDonald of Mt. Pleasant, Tom McDonald of Dimondale, Marylnn (Tom) Bott of Remus, Bill McDonald of Lansing, John (Sharon) McDonald of Mt. Pleasant, Suzanne (Tom) Courser of Mt. Pleasant, Linda (Gary) Ray of Hudson, Florida, Marcia McDonald of Clare; 22 nieces and nephews; 31 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Valeria McDonald.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. The family will greet friends at 12:30 p.m. Burial to take place at Sherman Mesick Cemetery.
