Janet Gazella (1936 - 2019)

Janet Ruth Gazella, 82, died on Wednesday, March 6th, in Grand Rapids, MI, after a period of deteriorating health. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Ionia, MI. Janet was born to Francis and Mildred Gazella in Ionia, the seventh of 12 children. Her twin, Janice Rita died shortly after birth. Janet graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and Aquinas College with a B.A. degree. She was an elementary teacher in several Michigan schools. Janet had a kind, friendly nature; loved dogs, enjoyed visiting with friends, reading, solving puzzles, and relaxing by the lake. Survivors include sisters: Louise (John) Sweet, Rose Mary Gazella, Margaret Bonham, Mary Jane Gazella; sister-in-law Jane Ann Gazella, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: James, Richard, Charles, and Carl; sisters: Catherine, Janice, and infant Josephine. The family appreciates the care given by professional caregivers, and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
