Jane Janes

Jane Margaret Janes, 84, of Marinette, WI., formally of Kalamazoo, MI, died November 9, 2016, in Green Bay, WI, following a stroke. The daughter of the late Cele and Kenneth Edge was born December 30, 1931, and raised in Appleton, WI. Jane was married to Professor Raymond L. Janes for 53 years, who preceded her in death in 2009. She graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from WMU and remained committed to early childhood education as a teacher and volunteer. She was a writer and storyteller with recent awards from the General Federation of Women's Club for her short story submissions. Active and vibrant to the end, she had participated in many 5K races well into her eighties. She enriched our lives with many wonderful memories and laughter. A lover of birds, nature, literature, good food and wine, and her daily crossword puzzle competition with Ernie! She will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives she touched. She is survived by Ernest Pleger, Marinette, her partner of the last 3 years; children Julie (Dixon) Dudderar, Sue (Steve) Hammar, Barb (Jeff) Cooke, and Bill (Sally) Janes. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jean (Jon) Doglio, Dagan Hammar, Mary Cooke, and Raymond Cooke, as well as her brother Dick (Phyllis) Edge and sister Mary Vogel. A family remembrance is planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program (www.rif.org).
