James Edward "Jim" Wunderly of Kalamazoo, MI Jim, age 86, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 22, 2018, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Jim, the son of Edward and Edith (Lampus) Wunderly, was born in New Castle, PA on September 29, 1931. He earned a BS in Pharmacy at Pitt University, an MBA from Western Michigan University, and a JD from Cooley Law School. Jim served his country honorably during the Korean War as a pharmacist in the United States Army. He retired in 1990 from the Upjohn Company of Kalamazoo after 34 years, to begin law school. He was an accomplished musician, a lifelong bodybuilder and an avid weight lifter. He dedicated many years to volunteering with several animal rescue groups throughout the Kalamazoo area. Jim was a member and Elder at the Yorkville Community Church. He was generous to those in need and devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, including the furry ones (Newbie and Gracie). Jim was united in marriage for 64 years to Ann (Anna Mae) Kraus, who survives. Also surviving is his daughter Kathy A. (John) Arnoldi of Muskegon MI; his son Dr. Douglas (Dr. Jacqueline) Wunderly of Richland MI, grandchildren: Dr. Ashley Arnoldi, Kevin Wunderly, Ryan Wunderly, Taylor Allen and Eric Arnoldi, brother-in-law Paul Lafayette, sister-in-law Jackie Kraus, and nephews Ron (Ellen) Kraus and Kip (Heather) Kraus. Jim appreciated his loving longstanding relationship with the Maitlands/ Wilkinsons, who he considered his extended family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Iris Lafayette, and brother-in-law Harven Kraus. Jim's family will greet friends today, Sunday, February 25th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89). The Funeral Service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Monday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland 49083, with the Rev. Shawn L. Raifsnider, officiating. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township. Family and friends are invited to return to the Church following committal for a time of fellowship and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be directed to the Yorkville Community Church, the "Animal Rescue Project" at 219 Peekstock, Kalamazoo MI 49001, or to a charity of your choice.
