James Everett Stoneburner, age 87 of Delton, passed away at his home on August 9, 2019. James was born on October 14, 1931 at his family home in Alamo Township to Clinton and Ruth (Kaylor) Stoneburner. After graduating from Otsego in 1950, he worked for 43 years at James River as a pipe fitter, retiring in 1993. James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. James loved to be outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing or cutting wood. He would often work all day then come home to take care of his animals and farm. James had a passion for gardening, often planting over 100 tomato plants each year. James loved the Lord, and as a longtime member of Hickory Corners Bible Church he helped to build the new church building. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. James is survived by his dear wife of 62 years, Shirley (Nevins) Stoneburner; children, James (Kristy) Stoneburner, Teresa (Don) Cichy, Jodi Visser, Michele (Ken) Hicks, Alyssa (Beto) Arias; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry Stoneburner, Frank (Judy) Stoneburner, Hugh Stoneburner; sisters, Arlene Wallace, Judy Jaeger; many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clinton Stoneburner, John Stoneburner, Kenneth Stoneburner, Jack Stoneburner; sisters, Lucille Barber, Mary Knowlton, Ruth Graham. James' family will receive friends on Friday, August 16 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Williams-Gores Funeral Home in Delton, and again on Saturday from 12 to 1 P.M. at Hickory Corners Bible Church where a funeral service will be conducted at 1 P.M. with Pastor Jeff Worden officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar Creek Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Hickory Corners Bible Church will be appreciated.
