Formerly of Kalamazoo. James Steele Bowles, age 77, went home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in Cincinnati. Jim was born December 17, 1941 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Harry and Edith (Slater) Bowles. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Bowles. Jim was an active member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Youth Leader. Jim was instrumental in developing a program in downtown Cincinnati for feeding the homeless. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Jim is survived by his brother, Thomas (Julie) Bowles; nephews, Chad (Maria) Bowles, Matt Bowles (Erin Shrauger); great nieces, Ashley, Gracie, and Bailey Bowles; and special friend, Rick (Kimberly) Payne. Services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, May 21 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street with Rev. Steve Slater officiating. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Tuesday prior to the service. A light luncheon will follow in the Langeland Family Center and private family interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. There will also be a memorial service on Friday, May 31, at 1:00pm at the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati.
