Niedringhaus, James 6/19/1929 - 6/19/2014 Mattawan James William Niedringhaus passed away on his 85th birthday in 2014. Jim was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, graduating from Kalamazoo Central in 1947. After high school he joined the US Air Force. He was stationed in Garmisch, Germany and Tucson, AZ. After leaving the military he was employed by First Federal Bank of Kalamazoo. He was branch manager in the Vicksburg office. In the 1970's, Jim purchased a Tech Tire Repair franchise. The business was called Jim's Tech Supply and Jim put his heart and soul into it, winning numerous sales awards and growing the business to cover a large portion of Southwestern Michigan. It was an achievement he was proud of! Jim was also an avid sports fan. He followed Michigan football. He was an avid tennis player and played well into his 70's, until his health declined. He was a competitive player and playing tennis kept him young! Jim is survived by his daughter Linda (Steve) Sieja, of Phoenix, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his father William in 1970, mother Gertrude in 1937 and brother Tom in 2010. Jim's brother Ken, passed away shortly after Jim in 2015. A small graveside service is planned October 13 at 10 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Parchment. He will be interred next to his parents in the Niedringhaus family plot. Jim loved small animals and children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor at the ASPCA or Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization of Kalamazoo.
