Misner, James O. "Jim" Otsego, MI Jim passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at his home in Otsego. He was born August 28, 1945 in Plainwell, the son of Neil and Virginia (Bushee) Misner. Jim graduated from Otsego High School in 1963. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a mechanic from 1966-1968. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University. He owned Weber Motor Sales in Allegan until he received his Master's in Education from Grand Valley State University in 1989. Jim began teaching at Dumont Lake Juvenile Facility and went on to be Transition Coordinator at AAESA for 19 years until his retirement. In his free time Jim enjoyed camping and metal detecting. He was a member of the Otsego American Legion and Otsego United Methodist Church where he was an active reader and loved bible study. For 28 years he was married to Theresa Boysen and on May 8, 1999 he married Kathleen Barton who passed away in 2017. Surviving are his children, Brian (Jill) Misner, Neil (Kate) Misner and Shawn (Shawn) Kolhoff; step-children, Amy (Brian) Dole and Adam Strong; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Melissa) Misner; brother-in-law, Gary Shook and his cat, Ruby. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Amy; sister, Sandra Shook and by his 4 legged girl, Sophie. Friends may meet with Jim's family from 5-8 PM, Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Otsego United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeremy Africa, Pastor Joe Shaler and Pastor Dan Minor officiating. Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post #3030. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Otsego Veterans Memorial.
