Life Story / Obituary

James Michael Reidsma, 66, was called home by his Heavenly Father on February 19, 2016.

So much can be said about someone who was and is, loved so much. A trusted friend, faithful son, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Although there are not, and never will be, enough words to express our love and loss as a family, we take comfort in knowing the man he was and the love and life shared.

We commend our dear friend, trusted mentor, advisor, problem solver, confidant, protector, son, husband, father and grandfather into Your faithful care, oh Lord. For even as we know how much he meant to us, we know he means more to You than we can grasp. Even in our sorrow, we find comfort in Your love and mercy to sustain us, one and all, until we can all be together, once more.

James is survived by his father, Raymond Reidsma, wife, Nancy Reidsma, children, Rachel (Preston) DeRidder, Rebecca (Greg) Quist, Angela (Derick) Stegenga, Travis (Johnna) Staat and grandchildren, Meagan, Hailey, Maddi, Colin, and Mia.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Reidsma and father in law, George Van Den Bosch.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Harderwyk Ministries, 1627 West Lakewood Blvd., with the Rev. John Burden officiating.

Burial will be in Port Sheldon Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mika’s Lunch.
