Jim Mellinger, age 87, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2017 in Kalamazoo, MI. Jim was born May 24, 1929 to Pauline and William Mellinger in Kalamazoo, MI. Jim graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. On 11/29/1948, Jim married Dorothea Robart. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother Rush. He is survived by two sons: Todd (Susan) Mellinger of Suttons Bay, MI and Randy (Caprice) Mellinger of Largo FL; three grandchildren Cameron Mellinger of Kalamazoo, Jacob (Autumn) Mellinger of Otsego, Brianna (Scott) Boley of Kalamazoo; three great-grandchildren Maya Mellinger and Ryder Boley; a sister-in-law Linda Mellinger and several nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00PM on Thursday, January 12th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Service to follow at 4:00 pm. Interment with full military honors will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Friday at 11:00AM. Memorials in Jim's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
