James Meisterheim

Meisterheim, James F. "Jim" Mattawan Age 76, passed away at home on Friday, December 14, 2018 with his family by his side. Jim was born in Kalamazoo on August 21, 1942, the son of the late Francis "Frank" G. and Beverly J. (Fritz) Meisterheim. He was graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School where he ran Cross Country and wrestled. Jim was a 46-year employee of the Kalamazoo Gazette, retiring in February 2006 as the building superintendent. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing. Jim also enjoyed photography and was a skilled craftsman. He had a unique sense of humor that was enjoyed by everyone who knew him. On March 15, 1991, he was united in marriage to Carol A. (Watson) Meisterheim who survives. Jim is also survived by his children, Debbie Wood, Russell and Joseph Meisterheim, and Larry (Kristi) Decker; his grandchildren who he was affectionately known as "Grandpa JimBob", Shelley (Allen) Stahl, Jamie (Cameron) Brockway, Douglas Wood, and Erek and Ryan Decker; great-grandchildren; Camryn and Weston Stahl; brothers, Lynn and Gary Meisterheim and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Meisterheim. A memorial visitation will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4:00 6:00 PM.
