Following a courageous and valiant ten year battle with cancer, James M. Wunsch, age 72, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. James was born in Rhinelander, November 8, 1942 son of the late Orville “Ted” and Lois (Nee: Smith) Wunsch.

He was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1961”. From 1963 – 1966, Jim proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. On November 30, 1968 at St. Joseph Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Bonnie J. Vinkavich. Jim was employed by the Racine Journal Times as a journeyman line-o-type operator and distribution supervisor for over ten years, and retired from Piggly Wiggly after twenty-five years of service. He was a longtime member and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A huge NASCAR fan, he also enjoyed fishing, model cars, music, and traveling, especially to Branson, MO. Most of all he treasured time spent with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of forty-six years, Bonnie; his children, Kellie (Justen) Linn of Tomah, WI, Brady (Laurie) Wunsch of Racine; his grandchildren, Kathryn and Zachery Linn, Jackson Wunsch; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mariann (Glen) Gissing, Gary (Karen) Vinkavich of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dell, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Virginia Vinkavich.

A Mass of Christian Burial followed by Full Military Honors will be celebrated Monday, May 4, 2015, 12:00 P.M. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, with Rev. Rich Young OSA officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the church from 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 12:00 P.M. Private interment will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Cancer Society or ones favorite charity have been suggested.

The family extends a very special thank you to Zilber Family Hospice for their loving and compassionate care given to Jim.
