James Dorris

James Dwight Dorris, age 93, of Grand Rapids, MI died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Sunrise Senior Living of Cascade, Grand Rapids, MI James was born September 20, 1924 in Tekonsha township to Dwight B. Dorris and Lorene (Klink) Dorris. James graduated from Quincy High School in 1943. He was an Eagle Scout and lifelong outdoorsman, enjoying archery, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, driving horse drawn vehicles, and traveling in the U.S. and Canada. James served his country in the U.S. Army as a Tech. sergeant in the Signal Corps. He was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 34 years, retiring from the Battle Creek office as a toll test supervisor in 1982. James' wife, Joan (Odren), of 70 years, preceded him in death in 2017. He is survived by his two daughters and their families. No services are planned.
