Jack Emra Jaqua, age 79, passed away in Sarasota, Florida on July 28, 2017. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan January 15, 1938, the fourth child of Harold Kenneth & Leila Bell O'Brien Jaqua. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School & Western Michigan University. Jack married Sharon Snyder of Battle Creek, Michigan and together they had two children, Stephen & Marcia. Jack had a lifetime career at J.C. Penney Company, moving to & improving various department stores in several states, especially out East. After 37 years of marriage Jack & Sharon were divorced. Much later in life Jack married Alita Atwood from Canon City, Colorado and they lived for his remaining years in Sarasota, Florida. During that time, he worked at Captain Curt's Restaurant on Siesta Key alongside his lifelong friend Dave Stewart. Jack had a great sense of humor & was very friendly & outgoing. He was a talented golfer all his life. In his early twenties he competed in the finals of the Kalamazoo Men's All-City Golf Tournament. He also played on the WMU golf team. When he was living & working in the Chesapeake Bay area, he enjoyed boating & fishing. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Julane George & Janice Gilger and a brother-in-law Duane Gilger. Remaining are his first wife Sharon Snyder Jaqua, their two children Stephen & Marcia, his second wife Alita Atwood Jaqua, a brother-in-law Ken George and a brother & sister-in-law Chuck & Mary Ann Jaqua & several nieces & nephews. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial was held at Captain Curt's in Sarasota, Florida.
